Great tips on hot water heaters - one of the forgotten 24/hour expenses that hit us on the power/gas bill. Many people go around shutting down electrical equipment, lights, etc, but they forget the water heater endlessly heating up water for use in your home.

You seem to have forgotten one tip that could be useful for those who aren't quite ready for replacing large-ticket items. I used a water heater timer for years and it saved us a nice chunk of change; I didn't realize how much until it broke.

Thanks for your great site, I read it every day!
