Getting outdoors, even if it's really hot, is the best free fun you can have, in my opinion. I am fortunate to live in Florida, so going to the beach, going fishing, and hanging out at a lake are all very accessible for me. You don't need to spend a lot of money to have fun!

Hiking is definitely my big one! (Well, Geocaching, actually, which has a ~$100 startup cost, but is free from then on.) Here's something you should definitely do: check out Wisebread's round up on Things to Do For Under Five Dollars in Your City: http://www.wisebread.com/free-and-cheap-fun-things-to-do-in-your-city

You'll find great things to do this summer where you are, for under $5!
