This is a wonderful story.

I had a very similar experience and quit a dismal job just over a year ago. It was ruining my life, robbing my passion and stressing my marriage. On the day I quit, I typed up a letter of resignation. Then, I wimped out and thought I was over-reacting. So, I put it away in my briefcase. An hour later, my boss came into my office and read me the riot act. So, I calmly reached into my briefcase and handed him the letter. I have felt like my own man ever since.

Now, I have the best job I have ever had in my career and my life is so much better. I go to lunch with my wife often and enjoy meetings with my boss. It could have turned out really ugly. Instead, it turned into an incredible blessing for us.

Maybe career planning didn't save your life literally, keeping your heart pumping and your lungs breathing and your mind working, but it sure sounds like it saved your life in terms of fulfillment. There are few things worse than a job that makes your miserable. Even if taking a different job pays a bit less, you may gain in other areas of importance, such as quality time with family. Congratulations on the successful career planning!

Quitting is good, if you havea place to go. Younger workers lose their temper faster and become unemployed more often while chasing a dream '
Think things thry carefully first.
